Jade Shark Tooth
A tooth style pendant carved in New Zealand Jade by Samuel Potter. This is stunning a fully rounded 3D form. It includes an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord.
The shark with its ability to disappear into the depths was seen as a protector and messenger for the ocean. Wearing a shark tooth form is said to provide good luck and safety when traveling over water.
ABOUT ARTIST/CARVER: Samuel Potter whakapapa to Ngati Raukawa through his Nan who lived in Tolaga Bay. A born and bred Hamiltonian, was educated in local schools. Samuel finished his schooling at Fairfield College and entered retail at 17 years of age. In January 2019 he joined Sands Carving Studio as the ‘apprentice’ and have become passionate about carving, it’s the hands on fashioning, the range and beauty of the pounamu, and the supportive environment and staff that makes it all so enjoyable.
