Octopus (He'e) Carving with Fish | Sea Life 40"

SKU: MHTCB062025-13
Regular price $ 795.00

This exquisite piece showcases two He'e, the Hawaiian word for octopus and features a fish swimming between the tentacles, masterfully hand-carved into wood. In Hawaiian culture, the He'e, also known as Tako, is a powerful and symbolic creature. It is closely associated with Kanaloa, the Tiki god of the ocean, revered as a navigator and protector of the seas.

Beyond its physical form, the He'e holds deep cultural meaning in Hawai'i. The word itself carries multiple interpretations, including "to slip away," "to surf," or "to flee", reflecting the octopus’s elusive and fluid nature.

This artwork is not just a visual treasure but a connection to the rich traditions and mythology of the Hawaiian Islands. It stands approximately 40 inches tall and 12 inches wide and carved out of monkey pod wood.
