Made from authentic monkey pod wood, this hand-carved Tahitian Tiki figure stands at a height of 12 inches. In the late 19th century, the missionaries from London ordered the destruction of all Tahitian Idols, making these artistic pieces rare in modern-day Tahiti.
While Tahitians were not traditionally known for their Tiki carvings, these works of art have still survived in some places throughout Polynesia.
In Tahiti, Tikis were referred to as "Ti'i" and many can now be found in various museums across Europe.
